Using Conditional Searches

Search fields displaying the tilde icon (the “~” character displayed to the left of the Search field) allow the use of logical operators for a search, including “contains”, “begins with”, “equal”, and “ends with”.  Selecting the Conditional button after entering search characters allows you to select and apply a search operator (such as “contains” and “begins with”) to the entered Search value.

To Use Conditional Searches for an enabled Grid Search field:

  1. Enter search text into a search field that displays the Conditional button (to the left of the field).

Each Conditional button will display a special character assigned to represent the button’s current search operator (i.e., conditional search functions).  By default, all Conditional buttons are assigned the default “contains (~)” logical operator.

If you hover the mouse cursor over the Conditional button (i.e., “mouse-over”), the screen displays a tool tip defining the current search operator.

Conditional Search Functions:  The available conditional search functions returns list rows where the following conditions match:

contains” (~):  Characters anywhere in the searched column match search criteria.

begins with” (^):  Characters at the beginning of the searched column match search criteria.

equal” (==):  All characters of the searched column match search criteria (i.e., exact match).

ends with” (|):  Characters at the end of the searched column matches the search criteria.

  1. Use the Conditional button and menu to select a conditional search option to apply to logical condition to the entered search text.  eAIM will use the combination of the selected Conditional and the entered search characters (i.e., search criteria) to filter the list rows.

  2. Click the Conditional button to open the menu of conditional search options.

  3. Once selected, the conditional is applied to the characters entered in the Search field and, after pressing <ENTER>, eAIM filters grid rows to contain only matching data.

  4. Press the <ENTER> key to apply the search criteria and perform the search (i.e., filter the list) using the search character/condition combination.

eAIM searches and filters the entire list (not just the list’s visible area) using the search criteria, returning rows containing matching data.

  1. You can locate and select a row of an item that you want to work using the list grid.

You can use the search field’s Clear button to clear entered search characters/conditions and then perform a new search using another Search field.
